A Day in the Life of an Entrepreneur Mom: Mastering Work, Life & Inbox Chaos (Without Losing Your Mind)
Being an entrepreneur is a full-time job. Being a parent is also a full-time job. So how do we, as entrepreneur moms and dads, manage both without losing our sanity?

The truth is - it’s all about systems, boundaries, and leveraging the right tools. Let’s walk through a typical day in my life as a business owner and mom, and I’ll show you exactly how I stay on top of it all (without letting my inbox run my day).
6:00 AM – The Early Morning Hustle
The alarm goes off, and I’m up before the kids to get a head start. My morning routine includes:
A quick 10-minute meditation (because patience is non-negotiable)
A glance at my Sanebox-prioritized inbox with coffee - only the emails that matter are front and center
Checking my calendar for meetings, calls, and any last-minute schedule shifts
By training Sanebox to automatically filter out newsletters, noise, and distractions, I start the day with a clean, focused inbox — not hundreds of unread emails.
7:30 AM – Kids, Breakfast & Chaos
The next hour is a balancing act of:
Getting the kids dressed, fed, and out the door
Packing lunches and double-checking no nerf items or lizards made it into backpacks
Quick Slack check and responding to anything time-sensitive before I shift into work mode
9:00 AM – Daily Brief from My Assistant
At exactly 9:00 AM, my assistant sends me a breakdown of the day. This includes:
My full schedule, already sorted and prioritized
Flagged emails in my Sanebox ‘Train Me’ folder that need my direct attention
Any new fires that have popped up overnight and require an immediate response
This daily brief has been a game-changer. I’m not guessing what’s urgent - my inbox and assistant are both working for me, not against me.
10:00 AM – Deep Work (Call Block)
With my inbox sorted and tasks clear, I dive into focused work:
Team calls and project updates
Business development meetings
Reviewing deliverables from my team
Prepping for partner calls
Throughout this time, Sanebox continues to quietly manage incoming emails - filtering and sorting, so I’m not distracted by the constant ping of irrelevant messages.
12:30 PM – Lunch Break & Mental Reset
Lunch with my boys if they’re home, or a quick venture out to my flower beds (keeps me grounded)
Light inbox check - with all low-priority items already tucked away in folders
Respond to flagged items from my assistant’s morning report
2:00 PM – Creative & Strategy Time
Writing content, reviewing marketing plans, brainstorming growth strategies
Reviewing financials or big-picture decisions without distractions
My assistant and I sync briefly to confirm priorities for the next day
4:00 PM – School Pickup & Family Time
Emails paused (and honestly, most of what comes in after 4:00 PM is not urgent, thanks to filters)
Kid time, tadpole catching, and dinner prep
7:30 PM – Evening Wrap-Up
Quick inbox scan
Review any last-minute notes from my assistant
Sanebox summary folders show me exactly what I missed, with nothing urgent slipping through
9:00 PM – Recharge and Reflection
Journaling, reading, or a few minutes planning for tomorrow
Phone on silent, inbox closed, and focus on winding down
Why I Recommend Sanebox — Trained by Me and My Assistant:
Filters out unimportant emails automatically
Creates folders like SaneLater and SaneNews so distractions are out of sight
My assistant uses the TrainMe folder to highlight what’s important for me to review
End-of-day and weekly digests help me stay on top of non-urgent items when I decide
Works with any email client - no complicated setups or switching platforms
Final Thoughts:
Entrepreneurship and parenthood are both demanding roles. BUT with smart systems and the right tools, you can build a business and be present at home. Sanebox has been one of those tools that allows me to focus on what really matters, both professionally and personally.
If you’re feeling buried by your inbox, take control of it and let Sanebox (plus a great assistant) help you get there.
You don’t need more time. You need fewer distractions.
